Company Profile

Founded in 1979 in Fredonia, Wisconsin as Mid-State Refrigeration Systems, our business was centered on commercial refrigeration. Known for supermarket refrigeration installation, and walk-in cooler applications, Mid-State Refrigeration Systems, grew quickly. After 5 years of hard work, the company recognized its talent and became a Mechanical Contracting company specializing in steam fitting, process piping, and electrical and waste water system installation.

In early the 1990’s, when the EPA regulations requiring proper handling of refrigerant chemicals, our company was approached by White Industries, a division of Snap-On Tools, to do authorized repair work on their refrigerant recovery tools. At the same time the company was awarded the Kold-Draft ice machine distributorship for the state of Wisconsin and Upper Michigan. A new company was formed as a subsidiary of Mid-States Refrigeration Systems, called Ice-Kold, Inc. This was done to keep the business of selling ice machines and fixing refrigeration technician’s tools, often our competitor’s, separate from the mechanical contracting business. Ice-Kold grew as an ice machine distributor, and authorized parts distributor, and the increased demand for refrigerant recovery machine repairs, Mid-States Refrigeration Systems was phased out.

By 1999 Ice-Kold had become a well know recovery unit repair company. With authorized service agreements for most of the recovery unit manufactures, and doing rebuild and refurbishing work for many vendors, the business was moved to a modern 6000 sq. ft. building in Cedarburg, Wisconsin. This move helped us accommodate the constant growth and anticipated additional new business of repairing vacuum pump, meters and other tools HVAC and refrigeration contractors use to make their job easier. In 2007, Ice-Kold relocated again to Grafton, Wisconsin.

Today Ice-Kold’s service center is the nation’s largest multi-line refrigerant recovery machine repair center, and the Midwest’s largest parts distributor of recovery machine parts. Currently we do authorized repair for some 26 different brands of recovery equipment, in every state in the USA.
